Vacancy: Project Manager

Young professionals are invited to apply for the position of a project manager at the Department of European Studies, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, south India, beginning November 2018, for a period of three years.

Work Profile

The Department of European Studies has been recently awarded the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Project; as project manager you will be responsible for driving this project. Any and all organisational and financial obligations under this project will be overseen by the project manager under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project. As the department is actively involved in grant applications and projects with the European Union and other funding channels, activities pertaining to them as well, are to be undertaken by the project manager. The project manager is also expected to be involved in other departmental activities as and when required.

 

Qualifications and Competences

  • Master’s Degree, preferably in European Studies
  • Minimum two years’ experience in project management, preferably projects funded by the European Union
  • English at Native fluency level and working knowledge of at least one European language
  • High levels of motivation and self-drive
  • Ability to work in teams in multicultural environments

Benefits

  • Competitive monthly salary (₹43,000 )
  • As per the EU project guidelines, the project manager has to work a maximum of 20 days a month

Vacancy: Office Manager 

Young professionals are invited to apply for the position of a project manager at the Department of European Studies, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, south India, beginning November 2018, for a period of three years.

Work Profile

  • Preparation of project grant documents
  • Organizing the logistic for the events (vocational trainings, workshop, conferences)
  • Extending support in generation of content and maintenance of the project website
  • Coordinating a team of young professionals to achieve the project milestones
  • Ensuring smooth functioning of project activities on a day to day basis

Contract Type: Temporary-3years

Qualifications and Competences

  • Successfully completed graduate studies, preference given to postgraduates
  • Office management experience preferred
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of web development softwares preferred
  • English at native fluency level and with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment
  • Flexibility in work duties

Project Overview

The Department of European Studies has actively been involved in acquiring funds through calls and grant application with the European Union as well as other funding channels. It has been a recipient of many prestigious grants such as an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project, Jean Monnet Module, the Jean Monnet Chair awarded to the Head of the Department and the latest award being the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in India-EU Interdisciplinary Studies-Culture, Literature, Education and Society (IEIS-CLES).

The Centre of Excellence aims to enhance educational connect between India and Europe by generating interest and creating awareness about European people, literature, culture, and society among Indians and stimulate similar response from the Europeans towards Indian culture and philosophy.

Main objective – To establish an interdisciplinary Centre of Excellence that enhances people-to-people connect between India and Europe.

 

Specific objectives

  • provide a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary platform for India-EU studies
  • increase awareness about European culture and literature in India
  • share best practices in education at all levels between the two regions
  • develop expertise in European Studies in India and India Studies in Europe
  • involve academia, policy makers, civil society and, schools and universities leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest to India and EU
